Hello Ladies, my name is Liz Ewing. I have been convicted on a few accounts. I will explain a few... I was just reading a comment from Brenda's post about our feelings after class on Sunday & I was finding it rather hilarious almost til the end. Then I noticed my posture had changed, my hands began to sweat a little (mind you, it is freezing in this office). It was at that moment a realized she was talking about me.
I have to confess, today is Friday & I was just completing Day 2 of this weeks homework. And wouldn't you know, the lesson happens to be about "Glorifying God". In the last minute or two I have, read a passage in my bible, responded to a question in my workbook, answered the phone & responded to an email. Talk about multi tasking! But, did I give my undivided attention to any of the things I just mentioned?
Then I got to thinking about last night when my daughter & I were eating dinner & how I was thinking I needed to hurry & get a nap before heading to job #2 while she was trying to vent her frustrations & highlights of her school day. If that's not enough, how I was rushing to get her to school this morning for a meeting & hardly had the time to chat with her before she got out of the car to start her day.
Ok, now I have a stake in my heart because my life is so rushed that I have hardly taken the time to reflect on anything. Is this a life pleasing to Christ? Am I glorifying God through my actions? Well, if I were the judge I would give myself a couple of days in jail to think about my actions. Lord knows this is exactly what I am trying to get rid of. My shackles are wearing me down. I can hardly drag my feet they are so heavy. I want a get out of jail FREE card.

oh dear...well the good thing is we do have a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card!! It's given to us by Christ Jesus...praise HIM!! Conviction is such a wonderful thing if it leads us to godly repentance and not self condemnation...being honest with ourselves is the most important part of change...how can we change if we're not honest with ourselves? Hold on...God startin' to move!
Thanks for sharing! I was thinking about the same thing while reading that section of the study. Sometimes I'm so concerned with completing my to-do list for the day I forget to think about how I can accomplish God's agenda for me that day. Luckily, God is gracious and give us chance after chance!!
