The Reason for the Hope
Have you ever heard any of these statements: Human beings can be good without belief in God. Given all the suffering in the world, an all loving, all powerful God isn’t likely to exist.  The Bible is just a book of made up stories written by men.  It's just crazy to think that Jesus was both God and man, let alone that he was raised from the dead.  It’s wrong to say any one religion is more right than another since they’re all basically the same anyway.  In light of Biblical Christianity, how should we respond?  How do we live out God's call in I Peter 3:15 to "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. In this class, we'll look at the evidence that makes it reasonable to trust in the existence of God, the reliability of the Bible, the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the viability of Biblical Christianity as a thinking person's worldview. This class is for everyone.

Kingdom Man-by Dr. Tony Evans
Every Man's Destiny, Every Woman's Dream is a 6-week Bible study for adult men by Dr. Tony Evans. This study is designed to empower men to exercise the God-given dominion they were created for by giving them a Kingdom understanding, vision, and perspective on their identity and responsibilities along with practical steps on how to become a man who rules his world well.

Our culture has redefined manhood by emasculating men through a repositioning of the role. Men are portrayed as weak, self-serving, and unfocused. The Bible clearly communicates that man was created to exercise dominion over the various areas of his life, taking responsibility for himself and others entrusted to his care. When a man functions within the principles of biblical manhood, those around him benefit from his leadership and care. This study challenges and equips men to fully understand their position under God, learning to operate under the authority of Jesus Christ.

Sun. Sept. 23-Oct 28, 9am (Room 402)

Life’s Healing Choices-by John Baker
LIFE HAPPENS - Happiness and healing are yours for the choosing. We have all been hurt by other people-- we've hurt ourselves, and we've hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up, or habit. Nevertheless, the question we all face is, where do we go from here?

Life's Healing Choices offers freedom from our hurts, hang-ups, and habits through eight healing choices that promise true happiness and life transformation. Through making each of these choices, you too will find God's pathway to wholeness, growth, spiritual maturity, happiness, and healing. You will find real answers, real hope, and a real future -- one healing choice at a time.

Seminars

Dietrich Bonhoeffer: A Christian Response to Adolf Hitler
Bonhoeffer was not simply a theologian, he was a German pastor forced to live out his beliefs during the horrible years of Nazi rule. Hitler's deepening discrimination against the Jews - understood best as part of the larger scientific Eugenics movement in western society - sparked Bonhoeffer to action.

Captivated by Jesus' teachings from the "Sermon on the Mount" and the real life example of Gandhi's nonviolent resistance movement, Bonhoeffer tended first toward a pacifist approach to Adolf Hitler.  When this proved futile, he suddenly refocused his thinking and became part of an assassination plot against Adolf Hitler.  The life and writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer continue to inspire Christians today.

Please join Dr. Joe Thomas and student researcher David Shudy from Urbana Theological Seminary for lunch as they explore the ethical aspects of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's different approaches to ending Hitler's anti-Jewish policies and the Second World War.

Jesus, The One & Only

The Wednesday morning class got off to a great start today. I'm so thrilled to see women from various churches, different stages of life, and places in our walk with Jesus. We came to be with each other and to be with Jesus. We all want and need more of Jesus. Where else would we go but to Him? Oh there are options all  right...we all know that. But we have, as Mary did, chosen the better part. To sit at the feet of our Rabbi Yeshua.

"Let your house (heart) be a meeting place for the Rabbi, and cover yourself in the dust of His feet, and drink in His Words thirstily."

We've embarked on a life-changing journey that will lead us through the hills of Galilee with the Teacher, across the lake with the Master, and finally on the road toward the cross with our Savior.

Let's take each others hand and walk these roads together. We'll need the companionship.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

The Reason for The Hope

Well, I'm going to say it...you know the "A" word...APOLOGETICS! The class led by Sarah Boltinghouse started today. I think all us ladies were a bit leery...but I think we're all on board and ready to dig in and learn how to reasonably defend our faith. If you're interested in joining us, there are more books and plenty of space in the room. Stop by the church office and grab your book or just show up next Sunday.

The Wed. morning Beth Moore study, Jesus the One and Only, begins this Wed. Grab a friend and come join the group. We will make our way through the book of Luke. Two class options 9-11AM & 6:30PM.

Let's get into the Word of God!
